Take More Risks

I can’t rid myself of this negativity.

by Matt on , under Ramblings

A mass of negative thoughts are continually circulating around my mind like flesh-mad piranhas in a cramped goldfish bowl. Excuse me whilst I lay everything down here. If I get these down they will look as irrational and delusional as they truly are.

  • What happens when Google/Adsense crashes? Where will that leave me? Broke!
  • There are only so many topics I can make websites about! And there are only so many internet marketing topics I can write about here.
  • Why invest more money on the Internet when everythings failing?
  • I can’t write at all. I keep using the same words over and over again. Basically. Especially. Particularly. Usually. Normally. I think. I don’t know. Etc…etc.
  • 50 sites in 50 days. They’ll all be shit anyway. It’ll be a waste of time.
  • I’ll never get out of here.
  • I’m always talking about making it big but I never seem to actually do it. I seem to be attuned to failure.
  • Most of my domains are .info’s! Won’t I have to pay a large fee in a few years time if they get popular due to the new laws in place.
  • Why invest in a copywriter when you’ll never make back your original investment.
  • All of my blogs are ultimately doomed to failure.
  • I’m pretty much doomed to failure.
  • I’ve spent £130 on a years subscription to Wordtracker when I could have just used free tools….
  • I don’t really have much idea how to monetise many of websites beyond Adsense. I keep returning to writing sites solely for Adsense. Back to Point # 1.
  • And even if I start to make it big with Adsense someone will try to sabotage my account and I’ll get banned.
  • There’s a limit to how much I can make off the Internet. Why don’t I just get a proper job?
  • Everyone’s talking about setting up mailing lists yet I don’t even have a clue where to start…..
  • I’ve already tried Adwords once and it didn’t work for me, why should I try it again?
  • Finally, why oh why did I register largetesticles.net?!?!!?!?!

Ok that’s enough. I’ve read those back and majority of them are completely ridiculous. I’m not moaning or feeling sorry for myself here. I’m just trying to address some lingering issues that really do need to be put to bed.

Takemorerisks.com was the wrong choice of name for this blog. It should have been called Templeofdoubt.com.

Haha. Nice post. For a second I thought that you might have read my mind and posted my thoughts in your blog. Very disconcerting. I think the most succesful internetters/businessmen probably have those same doubts. Keep the faith friend. You’ve already gotten farther than most and are actually putting forth the effort and building your base. Stick with it!

On a more serious note, I think you should focus on what you want and not to focus on what you don’t want. You are just focusing on failure so you might subconsciously sabotage yourself in your progress because you never believed that success was possible in the first place and you just self destruct so to speak.

One thing that really helped me and amazed me is writing your goals down. One example is, I would write down “X visitors to site by Y” or something along those lines and then I would check the paper usually at the end of the month or whenever I remember and I find out that almost everything I have written down has come true.

Plus I think it’s important to take risks too, better to say I tried and failed than constantly linger with “What if I..”

    Have a great day.
