Take More Risks

Heh! I only managed to create one website tonight in the form of joydiv.net – a Joy Division tribute page. What went wrong? Well firstly I made a completely mess of my template choice. I started designing the site all with static HTML when it suddenly dawned upon me that I’d have to inject code for ads etc into it. So I had to go through each of the pages and edit the code so that it supports the Smarty template engine properly. God damnit. I’ll stick with Wordpress for the next few sites.

I lied……..technically I’ve designed 1 and a quarter sites tonight. Work is under way with Fatherted.net as well. I’ve to sort out a design yet but it shouldn’t be too hard heh.

What have I learnt so far? Not much really! It’s early days at the moment. If anything it’s a marathon not a sprint!
Oh by the way, I did learn something afterall. Instead of simply titling your links page as “Links” its better to use something more descriptive like “Joy Division sites” as people will actually type that into a search engine. I think. I’m not hip with the hooligans these days.

So yeah, I’m not really that disappointed with the start. I’m proud of the template I designed for that website and it definitely has capacity for expansion in the future. I’ve got to concentrate in creating websites though rather than ensuring that they are perfect, I can finetune them after they’ve been established after a while.

Right I’m going to hit the hay, I really do need some sleep. Listening to/reading about Joy Division is enough to send one into a dark dark place. Mwahahaha!
