The same has happened to me. It is no easy task to cancel with them after several emails and a personal letter sent to their head office, I was still left wondering if my account had been cancelled until once again I received another reminder to pay further fees which I assumed had cancelled. The moral to this story is to check all contracts to make sure that they are not set automatic for renewal because it is very hard to free yourself from this organisation

1and1 make it practically impossible to cancel their services. I mean - you have to sign & fax back a cancellation form to a ‘number that is printed on the form’ when no such number appears on the form. This in addition to firing a cancellation request email off via a completely separate portal, then wait for a response (which never arrived whrn I first tried 3 months ago) and click on it. The cancellation process is buried away in the FAQs. No simple to select button in the main portal. I’ve never come across anything so arcane in my life. Avoid these people like the bloody plague. I will always deal with LunarPages in future. They answer support queries instantly, and everthing is manageable online. 1and1 can only keep hold of customers by not letting them cancel. Keep the frick away from them.
